 Storyline Broken Arrow 1950

Tom Jeffords (James Stewart) comes across a wounded, 14-year-old Apache boy dying from buckshot wounds in his back. Jeffords gives the boy water and heals his wounds. The boy's tribesmen appear and are at first hostile but decide to let Jeffords go free. However, a group of gold prospectors and the Apache gag Jeffords and tie him to a tree. Helpless, he watches as they attack the prospectors and torture the survivors. The warriors then let him go but warn him not to enter Apache territory again.

When Jeffords returns to Tucson, he encounters a prospector who escaped the ambush. He corrects a man's exaggerated account of the attack, but Ben Slade (Will Geer) is incredulous and doesn't see why Jeffords didn't kill the Apache boy. Instead, Jeffords learns the Apache language and customs and plans to go to Cochise's stronghold on behalf of his friend, Milt (Arthur Hunnicut) who is in charge of the mail service in Tucson. Jeffords enters the Apache stronghold and begins a parley with Cochise (Jeff Chandler) who agrees to let the couriers through. Tom meets a young Apache girl, Sonseeahray (Debra Paget), and falls in love.

The Apaches allow the mail riders to travel to Tucson. However, a few of Cochise's warriors attack an army wagon train and kill the survivors. The townsfolk nearly lynch Jeffords as a traitor before he is saved by General Oliver Otis Howard (Basil Ruysdael), who recruits Jeffords to negotiate peace with Cochise. Howard (the "Christian General") condemns racism, saying that the Bible "says nothing about pigmentation of the skin."

Jeffords makes a peace treaty with Cochise, but a group led by Geronimo (Jay Silverheels) oppose the treaty and leave the stronghold. Jeffords accompanies the first Butterfield stagecoach to leave Tucson during the three months set aside by Cochise. Apache renegades ambush the coach as it stops at a river. Jeffords rides off to seek help from Cochise and the stagecoach is saved.

Jeffords and Sonseeahray marry in an Apache ceremony and have several days of tranquility. Later, Ben Slade's son spins a story to Jeffords and Cochise about two of his horses stolen by Cochise's people. Cochise says that his people did not take them and doubts his story, as he knows the boy's father is an Apache hater. They then decide to go along with the boy up the canyon but are ambushed by the boy's father and a gang of men from Tucson. Jeffords is badly wounded and Sonseeahray is killed but Cochise kills most of the men, including Ben Slade. Cochise forbids Jeffords to retaliate, saying that the ambush was not done by the military and that Geronimo broke the peace no less than Slade and his men and that peace must be maintained. Jeffords rides off with the belief that "the death of Sonseeahray had put a seal upon the peace, and from that day on wherever I went, in the cities, among the Apaches and in the mountains, I always remembered, my wife was with me".

Storyline Big Jake 1971

In 1909, there is a raid on the McCandles family ranch by a gang of ruthless outlaws led by John Fain. They massacre the ranch hands and kidnap Little Jake, the grandson, leaving a ransom note and heading back for Mexico, where they have been hiding out. Martha, the head of the family, is offered the help of both the state militia and the Texas Rangers in hunting the gang. She replies that this will be "a harsh and unpleasant kind of business and will require an extremely harsh and unpleasant kind of person to see it through." In consequence, she sends for her estranged husband, the aging Jacob "Big Jake" McCandles, a near-legendary gunfighter who wanders the west with his Rough Collie, simply named Dog.

When Jake arrives by train, he and Martha discuss a plan to take the ransom to the kidnappers, a million dollars in a big red strongbox, although Jake warns that, "Pay or not, we run the risk of never seeing the boy again". Then his son Michael rides up on a motorcycle, bringing word that he has seen the kidnappers in the Chilicothe Canyon. The Texas Ranger captain is present and offers the services of his men, equipped with three REO touring cars. They, however, are ambushed and their cars put out of action. Jake, preferring the old ways, has followed on horseback, accompanied by an old Apache associate, Sam Sharpnose. He is now joined by his sons, Michael and James, with whom his relations are tense because of his desertion of the family ten years before.

That night, Fain rides into their camp to make arrangements for the handover, telling Jake that they will “send the boy's body back in a basket" if anything should go wrong. Both men deny any personal stake in the business, each claiming to be "just a messenger boy". The family party crosses into Mexico the next day and checks into a hotel. Knowing that they have been followed by another gang intent on stealing the strongbox, Jake sets a trap for them and they are all killed. During the attack, the chest is blasted open, revealing clipped bundles of newspaper instead of money. Michael and James become suspicious of Jake and the three slug it out, but Jake assures them that it was both his and Martha's idea. James fears for Little Jake's life, but Jake tells them they'll have to go in anyway.

A thunderstorm breaks and Pop Dawson, one of the outlaws, arrives to give them the details of the exchange. He warns them that a sniper will have a gun trained on the boy in case of a double-cross. Jake arranges for Michael to follow after them to take care of the sharp shooter and convinces Dawson that he had been killed in the fight. At the hideout, Jake is led in alone to where Fain and four other gang members are waiting, one of them holding a shotgun on the boy. Jake tosses the key of the chest to Fain, who opens it up to discover that he has been tricked.

Fain orders his brother Will to kill the boy but he is shot by Jake. Dog is wounded by the sniper and Jake is wounded in the leg before Michael kills him. Jake tells the boy to escape but Little Jake is hunted by the machete wielding John Goodfellow, who has already hacked Sam to death. Dog comes to the rescue and is himself killed before Big Jake arrives and impales Goodfellow on a pitchfork. Fain rides up and is preparing to finish off the two of them when Michael arrives from where he had been waiting in ambush and blasts him off his horse. Before he dies, Fain asks, "Who are you?" When Jake answers, "Jacob McCandles," Fain says, "I thought you was dead," as have other characters during the course of the film. “Not hardly," Jake replies.

With Little Jake rescued, and the broken family bonded, they prepare to head home.

A Man Called Horse is a 1970 American Western film starring Richard Harris and directed by Elliot Silverstein. Based on a short story by Dorothy M. Johnson, "A Man Called Horse", published in 1950 in Collier's magazine and again in 1968 in Johnson's book Indian Country. The basic story was used in a 1958 episode of the TV show Wagon Train titled "A Man Called Horse". Partially spoken in Sioux, the film tells the history of an English aristocrat, John Morgan, who is captured by the Sioux people.

During the early 1800s, English Lord John Morgan is hunting in the Dakotas but he is captured by a group of Sioux warriors. Trying to put his life as a gunfighter behind him, Brazos Kane (Randolph Scott) goes off to join old pal Bob Tyrell at the Inskip ranch, only to see him gunned down by an unseen shooter.

Brazos takes the body to the Banner ranch, but the ruthless Banner (Griff Barnett) has him arrested for the murder by Yount (Grant Withers), a corrupt deputy. Brazos has the bullet that killed his friend and slips it to Jane Banner (Dorothy Hart), the rancher's daughter.

Inskip (Charley Grapewin) frees him before Brazos can be unjustly tried and hanged. Brazos makes the mistake of trusting Bess (Barbara Britton), sister of Jane, but she is in love with ranch foreman Bard Macky (Bruce Cabot), the man who killed Tyrell.

Brazos refuses to strap on his guns, but Yount (Grant Withers) and hired gun Orcutt (Forrest Tucker) try to ambush him or run him off. Inskip is murdered in cold blood and so is young cowhand Johnny O'Neil (John Miles), the last straw. Brazos arms himself and goes after the bad guys, wounding Yount several times to make him talk, then calling out Orcutt and Bard for a final showdown, with Jane's help.

Storyline Warlock 1959

Warlock is a 1959 western film directed by Edward Dmytryk and starring Henry Fonda, Anthony Quinn, Richard Widmark, and Dorothy Malone. It is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by American author Oakley Hall.

Fonda portrays Clay Blaisedell, a freelance marshal in the fictional town of Warlock with implacable methods of dealing with troublemakers. The film has a subplot centering around Blaisedell's club-footed assistant, Tom Morgan. Content to stay in the background, Morgan has sublimated his relationships and ambition into a warped devotion to Blaisedell, the only person Morgan thinks does not look down on him for his disability. A woman Morgan rejected in favor of his life as a sidekick soon arrives and seeks vengeance by setting the townsfolk against Blaisedell. Far from asserting himself, the marshal plans to quit and get married, much to Morgan's disgust. Morgan remonstrates that his skill as a gunman is far superior to his conventionally heroic friend's, and is the only thing that has been keeping the honorable Blaisedell alive. Blaisedell attempts to stop a spurned Morgan running amok, and with ulterior motives Morgan challenges Blaisedell to a duel in front of the watching town.

The town of Warlock is plagued by a gang of thugs, leading the inhabitants to hire Clay Blaisdell, a famous gunman, to act as marshal. When Blaisdell appears, he is accompanied by his friend Tom Morgan, a club-footed gambler who is unusually protective of Blaisdell's life and reputation. However, Johnny Gannon, one of the thugs who has reformed, volunteered to accept the post of official deputy sheriff in rivalry to Blaisdell; and a woman arrives in town accusing Blaisdell and Morgan of having murdered her fiancé. The stage is set for a complex set of moral and personal conflicts.

Bill Mayhew is constantly getting his wild younger brother Sam out of trouble, even serving a prison sentence in Sam's place once. Because of their reputation, the brothers change names and head their separate ways.

Bill lands a job with John Sutton, a livery stable owner, and is attracted to Sutton's daughter, Elizabeth. He likes Sutton's idea of starting a stagecoach line to Denver, and intends to go along on the stage's first journey, guarding a shipment of gold.

Sam turns up and is hired by saloonkeeper Jim Donovan, who wants to control all businesses, Sutton's included. When he deduces they are brothers, Donovan pretends to hold Sam hostage until Bill brings him the gold. Bill double-crosses him and makes sure the gold is safe. Sam, feeling his brother a fool, demands a showdown. Bill outdraws him, shoots the gun from his hand, then turns his back. Sam finally reforms, even becoming a stagecoach driver for Sutton.

Storyline The Tramplers 1965

Gordon Scott is Lon Cordeen, a former Rebel who returns to Texas after the Civil War to discover an ugly truth. His father, Temple Cordeen (Joseph Cotton) can’t let go of the past and continues to wage war against the “Yankees” who live in the L Crossing area.

In fact, just as Lon is arriving home, his father and his followers are in the process of lynching a writer named Wickett, who has been determined to expose the condition southern slaves have been living in. Lon can do nothing to stop the hanging, but Wickett’s daughter Edith vows to bring Temple to justice, through legal means.

Trouble continues when Beth Cordeen falls in love with cowboy Charley Garvey (Franco Nero in his first Western). Temple considers Charley unworthy of the Cordeen family and sends Lon to scare him off — and kill him if necessary.

Instead, Lon helps the couple get married. And when Lon kills one of his dad’s henchmen, he and younger brother Hoby (James Mitchum) ride off with the newlyweds for a new start. But Temple, having lost a war, isn’t about to lose two sons without a fight.

Storyline I'll Sell My Skin Dearly 1968

Shane is your standard spaghetti gunman, few of words, quick on action. It served  Mike Marshall well as he didn’t seem to be that good an actor, making some godawful faces at various times during the picture when some sort of emotion was required.

He’s a man come to home to settle something he’d

tried to forget, but kept eating at him. His family, mother, father, and little sister, had been murdered for their land. Specifically an old mine the father had been working for years with little result, but had finally struck a vein. It’s not explained how, but a man named Ralph Magdalena(Dane Savours) had found out and showed up to help him out . He wanted the land for grazing he said and offers him a paltry five hundred for it, quick claim in hand to be signed. Adding another two hundred, he says he’ll give him a few minutes to talk it over with his wife, going outside, knowing all the time the answer. he had half a dozen men hidden waiting, gunning him down when he comes outside and the wife and daughter after him.

Young Shane had been away at the time and had stayed away for a dozen years until it ate away at his insides and he’d come for revenge.

At times he seems mad, as when he buries the first one he finds alive, other times he seems soft and gentle. Wounded in an ambush, he drives the assailant off and digs the bullet out of his leg himself, tough guy, with a dagger he keeps in a sheath up his left sleeve. Quite good with the knife, he uses it several times to escape death.

He’s found by a young boy, Kristian, who gets him home to his mother, the widow Georgiana

Bennett(Michele Giradon), who nurses him back to health. She becomes the focal point from then as Magdalena’s lieutenant, Benson(Spartaco Conversi) , has the hots for her and keeps trying, even to the point of killing two off his men who dared go out there and mess with her, only to be soundly whipped by shane and sent packing. The fact that widow Bennett makes it quite clear she’s not interested, Benson keeps trying.

The final showdown happens in a monastery where Magdalena’s brother, Domenique(Grant Laramy), is a priest. He was in on the raid twelve years before, but had found God since and went into the priesthood. he’d spent the years trying to make up for what he’d done.

Storyline Waco 1966

Waco is a 1966 American Technicolor Western film directed by R. G. Springsteen starring Howard Keel, Jane Russell, Brian Donlevy, Wendell Corey, John Smith and Terry Moore.

A town in Wyoming is up in arms. Somebody has shot the sheriff, Billy Kelly, and things are so bad that preacher Sam Stone and businessman George Gates implore the mayor, Ned West, to bring in outside help.

They arrange for a gunfighter called "Waco" to be pardoned by the governor and sprung from jail. Waco rides to town and immediately cleans it up, defying boss Joe Gore by becoming sheriff, firing the deputy and bringing in old partner Ace Ross to be by his side.

Preacher Stone is happy but wife Jill is not. She used to be involved with Waco, who isn't going to like it that she got married while he was behind bars.

Also unhappy is rancher Ma Jenner, whose boys Ike and Pete seek revenge on her behalf because Waco killed their brother. And mayor West has troubles of his own because of an attack on his daughter Patricia.

It all comes down to a gunfight. Waco is outnumbered, particularly after Ace chickens out and abandons him, but the mayor and preacher come to his aid. Gore and the Jenners end up dead, but so does Stone, which means Jill and Waco can be together again.

Storyline Kill the Poker Player | Creeping Death 1972

KILL THE POKER PLAYER is the title of the American release of this 1972 spaghetti western, a fairly innocuous one as spaghettis go. But within the film credits, it had a title I thought much better: Creeping Death. That comes from the killer’s use of poisonous snakes.

 The movie opens with a bank robbery, one million dollars. The stick-up man uses a six gun with a silencer attached (don’t explain them). After relieving them of the cash, he shoots the president and two clerks. As it’s a windy day, the little sound he makes with his silenced gun is covered. In the saloon, a confederate decked out as a union officer is on hand. The bank president,images not dead, staggers out with a gun. We learn there’s a third man, unseen, who shoots the bank man. The Union officer guns down those in the bar when they react and the two men beat it out of town.

Shortly they are joined by the third man while eating. The camera angle, the big hat, and never showing him from the front, guarantee we will not know the man. The first two man wake up later to find poisonous snakes sitting on their chests.

That’s the mystery of this film. Who is the third man that cold-blood murdered his partners?

Robert Wood rides into town and identifies himself as Jonathan Pinkerton, an agent for Lloyd’s of London who’d insured the bank money. It’s his job to find thaat third man and the money. a two hundred thousand dollar reward is on the line.

A number of suspects are offered. The sheriff Lewis Burton(Frank Braña), who Pinkerton witnesses shooting down an outlaw he’d induced to surrender, Doctor Norton( Ernesto Colli), a zoologist who specializes in snakes would seem the obvious suspect. Third on the list is a saloon owner(Carlo Gaddi) and his girl friend(Nieves Navarro, billed as Susan Scott), and a local rancher, Clinton( Ivano Staccioli ), who claims to be broke from rustling, horse thievery, and bad poker playing.

 Halfway through we learn Pinkerton is really Alan Fields, a Federal agent brought in on the case.

Someone wants him off the case though as he’s constantly challenged by groups of men. Forynately he’s handy with his fists and gun, whatever’s needed.

Then the suspects start getting knocked off and Fields is framed for them. But he keeps pushing until the third man reveals himself.

Storyline Hour of the Gun 1967

Hour of the Gun is a 1967 Western film depicting Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday during their 1881 battles against Ike Clanton and his brothers in the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral, and the gunfight's aftermath in and around Tombstone, Arizona, starring James Garner as Earp, Jason Robards as Holliday, and Robert Ryan as Clanton. The movie was directed by John Sturges.

The picture is based on the non-fiction book Tombstone's Epitaph by Douglas D. Martin, with a screenplay by Edward Anhalt.

Outnumbered but determined, Wyatt Earp (James Garner), his brothers Virgil (Frank Converse) and Morgan (Sam Melville) and ally Doc Holliday (Jason Robards) confront and clearly get the best of the Ike Clanton gang in a violent shootout at the O.K. Corral in the Arizona town of Tombstone.

Ike (Robert Ryan), a rustler, conspires to have the Earps charged with murder and tried in a court of law. When they are cleared, Virgil runs for Tombstone City Sheriff, but is ambushed and maimed by some of Clanton's hired guns. Morgan elects to take the job in his brother's place, but, unlike his brother, he is killed.

Doc Holliday, a gambler who has been on the wrong side of the law himself more than once, is terminally ill with tuberculosis and is admitted into a Colorado sanitarium. Earp intends to clear out of Tombstone with what's left of his family and move to California, but changes his mind upon being appointed a federal marshal for the territory.

Guns blazing, Earp and his posse ruthlessly hunt and kill various members of Clanton's gang. He rides to Mexico for a final showdown with Ike, shooting him dead. He makes one last trip to Holliday's death bed to say goodbye to his unlikely friend, then hangs up his badge and guns for good.

Storyline 1000 Dollars on the Black 1966

Johnny Liston returns from twelve years of imprisonment for a crime he didn't commit to find his brother, Sartana, their home town and surrounding area with his band of hoodlums. What's more, Sartana has taken Johnny's erstwhile sweetheart, Manuela, as his woman and spends all his free time when he is not extorting cash from the local townsfolk beating her or whipping her mute brother, Jerry. Johnny rescues local beauty Joselita Rogers from the clutches of some banditos but she shuns him when she discovers his identity as it was for the murder of her father that Johnny was convicted. Johnny is appalled by his brother's reign of terror and sets out to thwart his activities but gets no support, either from the townsfolk or his embittered mother who dotes on Sartana and vilifies Johnny for being 'weak'. Twisted family loyalties ensure that neither brother will openly attack the other but they struggle against each other until their mother's death when all bets are off and a showdown is inevitable.

Alex Cox, in his recent book, described $1000 on the Black as visually fantastical, with no concession to that dull and deadly notion, 'realism'. For me Cox hits the nail on the head in terms of what makes this film appealing. It has melodrama in big heaped spoonfuls, a bad guy who is deliciously bad, a good guy we can root for and a mad, embittered matriarch in a big house whose malicious influence pervades all. All this acted with an unmistakeable relish in the Italian style where the term 'less is more' is never remotely considered. Everyone involved contributes their part here but, as mentioned above, Gianni Garko as the evil brother Sartana is very much first among equals.

This is not the Sartana character which became synoymous with Garko in the years to come but a very different animal. Psychotic, sadistic and Oedipal this Sartana is a whip wielding nut case who loves his mother and hates everyone else and whose blonde, blue eyed good looks are in stark contrast to his pseudo Mexican bandit persona. Garko plays the role well and proves beyond doubt that he was one of the few Spaghetti stars who was capable of inhabiting any character he chose. A true actor, he is as convincing here as the heavy as he was in any of his more usual good guy parts and his passionate, exuberant approach to this particular role works as a great foil to Anthony Steffen's stone faced hero. The two make a very effective pairing and between them create an absorbing spectacle. Steffen is...well...Steffen, and that's just fine. He does what is required and the part suits his style well. Tony was never a man who was going to challenge anyone in the acting stakes so it is not surprising that he is upstaged by Garko here but he performs well and brings sufficient steel to his character. He also performs his action scenes with his usual skill. This is where Steffen is at his best and he doesn't disappoint.

Storyline Four Guns to the Border 1954

In 1881, a quartet of bandits have their eye or robbing the bank of Cholla. Though several attempts have ended disastrously for the bank robbers, Cully, the leader, has a plan. On their way they meet Simon Bhumer and Lolly, his daughter. Dutch, one of Cully's gang, was a former friend of Simon when both were gunfighters until Simon gave up gunslinging to settle down and raise a family, though his wife was later killed in an Indian attack.

The gang meets up again with Simon and Lolly at their friend Greasy's general store and see signs of Apache activity leading to war. Cully and Lolly hate each other at first, but each senses something good in the other. They separate after the bank robbery. Simon and Lolly ride to their new farm at Shadow Valley.

Cully's plan is to ride into his former town of Cholla, where he was expelled by rival Jim Flannery, now the town sheriff. As all the men in town watch Cully and Jim beat the living daylights out of each other, the others rob the bank without incident or witnesses. Heading for the Mexican border, the gang sees that the Apaches are on the warpath. Cully has to choose between being safe and rich in Mexico or rescuing Simon and Lolly from an Apache war party.

Cannon for Cordoba is a western film that was released in 1970. Filmed in Spain, the larger part of the movie takes place in Mexico in 1912. Directed by Paul Wendkos, it stars George Peppard, Pete Duel, Giovanna Ralli, and Raf Vallone

It is 1912 and groups of Mexican revolutionaries have been attacking towns on both sides of the Mexican-American border. The most powerful of these groups is led by a former Mexican army general, Héctor Cordoba. When a surprise attack results in six cannons falling into the hands of Cordoba and his men, the United States government puts General John J. "Blackjack" Pershing (John Russell) in charge of seeing that the cannons will never be used against the American people. Pershing turns to Captain Rod Douglas (George Peppard), instructing him to gather a group of men to take part in the dangerous mission into the heart of the Cordoba's territory.

The first man to sign up for the job is Jackson Harkness (Don Gordon), a soldier who has worked with Douglas before. At the beginning of the film, Harkness has to stand by and watch as his brother is tortured and killed by Cordoba. Douglas ordered him not to step in because they were undercover as sympathizers in the enemy camp and could not afford to make their true intentions known. As a result, Harkness vows vengeance on the captain and will not leave his side until the opportunity presents itself.

The next two men that Douglas chooses for the operation are Andy Rice (Pete Duel) and Peter (Nico Minardos), who have just broken out of the army jail when Douglas arrives with the orders for their release. The captain now has all of the men that he feels are necessary for getting the job done. However, a Mexican lieutenant, Antonio Gutierrez(Gabriele Tinti), who holds a personal grudge against Cordoba, approaches him and demands to be part of the operation. He tells Douglas that he knows a woman, Leonora Cristobal(Giovanna Ralli) who, for her own reasons, wishes to see Cordoba dead. If the captain includes him in the mission, she will help them by working her way into Cordoba’s confidence and getting him alone so that he will be vulnerable when they make their move.

Antonio and Leonora arrive at Cordoba’s camp first. Leonora, who learns that the Mexican government wants to capture Cordoba alive, betrays Antonio and informs the bandit leader of his intentions, hoping that he will reward her for what she has done by allowing her to get closer to him, giving her the opportunity to kill him herself.

When Douglas, Andy, Peter, and Harkness arrive at the camp, posing as sympathizers, they hear of what Leonora has done and decide that they have to act quickly. Douglas starts a fight with one of the Mexican men, so as to be put in jail, where he can help Antonio to escape. That night, Andy, disguised as a Mexican guards, breaks both of the men out of jail so that the operation can proceed. Douglas goes to Cordoba’s room, where he finds him alone with Leonora. She betrayed Antonio but she still did the job she was supposed to do. Meanwhile, Jackson and Peter have turned the cannons on the camp and begin to fire, while Andy and Antonio shoot flares into the buildings. Chaos ensues and the group of men, along with Leonora and their prisoner, Cordoba, attempt to ride out of the camp. Peter, Antonio, and Andy are killed in the process, and Cordoba is wounded.

The next morning, miles away from the camp, the diminished group stops to rest. When Douglas goes off by himself, Harkness sees his opportunity to avenge his brother. He follows the captain, demands that he turn around, and draws his gun. As Douglas walks unflinchingly toward him, however, he is unable to shoot and, instead, punches him. All now forgiven, the two men walk back to where Leonora waits. Cordoba has died from the wound he received the previous night. They are not able to bring him back alive, as the government had wanted, but the cannons were destroyed and their mission is complete.

Gunslinger Anthony Steffen comes home from the Civil War to find a bandit has slaughtered his family and kidnapped his young son. Next time they meet, the son has grown up to be the bandit’s cold-blooded lieutenant, although neither Steffen nor the son knows the other’s identity. It’s sort of like a Greek tragedy with dreadful dubbing and lots of punching.

This one overcomes muddled storytelling and unexceptional direction via a strong plot and some pretty sweet fight sequences, a barroom whip battle and a hook duel in a barn being particular stand-outs. Euro-Western mainstay Steffen is just OK in the lead, but a dead-eyed Roberto Miali and a radiant Elisa Montes make stronger impressions as the stolen son and his doomed love interest.

The Proud Rebel 1958 - Alan Ladd,Olivia de Havilland - Western Movies

The Proud Rebel is a 1958 Technicolor Western film directed by Michael Curtiz, with a screenplay by Joseph Petracca and Lillie Hayward that was based on a story by James Edward Grant. It is the story of a widowed Confederate veteran and his mute son who struggle to make a new life among sometimes hostile neighbors in the Midwest. Despite the implications of the title, the main character in "The Proud Rebel" does not dwell much on his Southern past, but finds his life complicated by sectional prejudice.

The film stars Alan Ladd, Olivia de Havilland, Dean Jagger, David Ladd and Cecil Kellaway and co-stars Harry Dean Stanton (credited as Dean Stanton) in an early film appearance. "The Proud Rebel" influenced the famous Indian artist Kishore Kumar to make "Door Gagan Ki Chhaon mein" in 1964. It starred his real-life son Amit Kumar playing the role of the mute son.

Storyline The Proud Rebel 1958

A former Confederate soldier, John Chandler (Alan Ladd) has come to an Illinois town with his 10-year-old son David (David Ladd) to see Dr. Enos Davis (Cecil Kellaway). The boy was struck mute after witnessing his mother's death in a fire, and hasn't spoken a word since. Dr. Davis recommends an operation by a doctor he knows in Minnesota.

With a flock of sheep blocking their path, John has their expertly trained dog Lance clear the way. The sheep belong to rancher Harry Burleigh (Dean Jagger) and his sons, Jeb (Harry Dean Stanton) and Tom (Tom Pittman), who try to steal the dog. John fights them while a passing stranger, Linnett Moore (Olivia de Havilland), holds the child. Harry knocks out John, pours whiskey on him, then tells the sheriff about being attacked by a drunk.

John must pay $30 or serve 30 days in jail. Linnett intervenes, suggesting to the sheriff, that Chandler can work off the debt on her farm. In exchange she offers to cover the fine, so that he will be released. Chandler disagrees at first, but is won over by her decency. Over the course of time, he discovers that Linnett is being pressured by the overbearing Burleigh to sell her land. It transpires that her land is blocking the easy passage of his sheep to pasture and the railroad. Gradually, John and Linnett grow closer, despite John determined to remain aloof, knowing he and his son will leave soon.

A trip to Minnesota for treatment will be expensive. John won't accept offers for the valuable dog, which the boy loves, but after the boy is taunted and roughed up by local children, John decides to sell Lance after all to finance his son's trip. He asks Linnett to accompany the boy up north while he rebuilds the barn, burned down by the Burleighs' men in an attempt to pressure Linnett to sell.

The operation doesn't work, and David is devastated to return home and find the dog is no longer theirs. John goes to the Burleighs to try to get it back and finds the dog being mistreated by them. Harry gives the dog back, but has his sons prepared to shoot John as a thief. The boy shouts out to save his father's life. In the end, John shoots Harry and his older son, then returns to Linnett with the dog and David, now able to speak.

All Out (1968) - Tutto per tutto (original title)  is a 1968 Italian Spaghetti Western movies

Johnny Sweet(Mark Damon) and Owl(John Ireland) join forces with two Mexicans Paco(Eduardo Fajardo) and Gomez to find a cache of gold.They manage to track down a mysterious Indian known as Copperface who had snatched and hidden the stolen gold from bandit leader Caranza(Fernando Sancho) in retaliation for Caranza stealing his devious wife Maria.But once this very uneasy alliance gets the gold the story turns into a series of double crosses as each man tries to seize all the gold for himself and in the tradition of GBU Gomez even says to Paco at one point "for the men in this world there are two kinds,those that look at the gold and those that take it!".

This is a mildly entertaining sw with plenty of humour alongside a healthy serving of action and gun duels though would have benefited from the pace being upped a bit in various places.Its an excellent cast,Damon and Ireland are great together and has a fine heavily Morricone influenced musical score.

Storyline Mohawk 1956

In 18th century upstate New York, a quarrelsome white man named Butler seeks to foment war with the Indians, to rid the Mohawk Valley of the natives and settlers he despises. He goes to the Iroquois chef Kowanen to warn him about a party of armed white settlers. Kowanen shows no concern, but his son Keoga and brave Rokhawah feel otherwise and plot a raid to steal the settlers' muskets. They are assisted by Keoga's sister Onida, but many Indians end up killed and Onida captured.

An artist, Jonathan Adams, has arrived from Boston, commissioned to do paintings and portraits. He is joined by sweetheart Cynthia Stanhope, a society lady from Boston, and attracted to Greta Jones, a local barmaid. But when he escorts Onida from the fort back to her people, he develops a romantic interest in her instead. Adams also earns the respect and trust of Kowanen as he paints the chief's portrait and Keoga comes to admire Adams' fighting prowess. Kowanen, seeking peace with the white settlers, offers to have his son Keoga accompany Adams back to the fort, as a sign of good faith.

As the two peace emissaries are en route to the fort, Butler stages an ambush, murdering Keoga. Chief Kowanen's men hold the whites responsible and take Adams captive, but he escapes, aided by Onida. When Adams finally reaches the fort, he reveals Butler's perfidy. As the enraged Indians attack, Butler is cast out of the besieged fort and meets his end in a hail of Indian arrows. A truce is declared, and while Cynthia goes back to Boston with his works of art, Adams remains behind to be with Onida.

And bigoted Colonel Morsby is strongly inclined to shoot first and ask questions afterward...

It's 1880 and a gang is terrorizing Montana. During a nightly raid on a ranch, many red shirted farmhands get killed, who instead of simply falling to the ground all jump in the air first. One guy is only shot in the arm, leading us to think he must be important. This is further made clear by the fact that when he goes inside, a spotlight seems to follow him around. But ultimately, even he gets murdered in front of his little boy Tony, starting off yet another by the numbers story of revenge. This also marks the first use of the film's inventive cross cutting (from the murder scene to a circus number in one fell swoop).

Tony is now being minded by a black butler and idolizing circus cowboy Roy Kerry. This guy already has some trauma's of his own because people are constantly trying to test his abilities. Kerry inadvertently gets mixed up with the cattle rustling gang and he does not get much respecto either, being just a circus patsy. You can tell it's just about time for the unavoidable bar brawl, complete with two sound effect. Accompanying this is a loud and overpowering score (making extensive use of a Hammond organ) that would not sound out of place in a Hammer Horror film.

Senor Roy gets bullied and humiliated like a little boy, for even in the old west, fame was fickle and guess what? He turns the other cheek and takes up drinking. This keeps up until the return of tiny Tony, for some reason dressed in a cooky kind of bus conductors uniform. Anyone who's ever seen a spaghetti Western before will realize there is a flashback coming up revealing that the kid and the gunslinger now share a common enemy. Roy finally decides to use his god given talents to break several commandments. Unfortunately the whole circus comes to Lewis Town, just in time to get in the way of the big shoot out and Shane homage.

Dead Men Don't Make Shadows (1970) - Western Movies

 Dead Men Don't Make Shadows, aka Stranger That Kneels Beside the Shadow of a Corpse (in original Italian: Inginocchiati straniero... I cadaveri non fanno ombra!) is a 1970 spaghetti western

Storyline Dead Men Don't Make Shadows 1970

American actor Jack Betts appeared in a couple of soap operas and even hadhunt a part in the very first Spider-man movie with Tobey Maguire. But he really came into his own and had a fine career doing spaghetti westerns under the name Hunt Powers.

As was usual with spaghetti westerns, DEAD MEN DON’T MAKE SHADOWS appeared in America under more than one title. I went with the shorter one as Stranger That Kneels Beside the Shadow of a Corpse seemed a bit long. I believe it was the literal translation of the Italian title.

Powers is Lazar Peacock, a bounty killer. He comes off as something of a vicious personality at times, seeming to like to torture his hunts. Spaghetti vet Gordon Mitchell has a cameo as Roger Murdock, a man with twelve thousand on his head. Lazar drives him away from several water holes in the desert with gunshots before allowing him to drink his fill, then killing him. We also see he holds a crippled old man at an isolated cemetery with no way to get out. No horse, a game leg, and no way to carry water from where he stays, he protests his innocence to Lazar every time he comes. Lazar promises to help him–soon!

The other lead is a mystery man(Franco Borelli, billed as Chet Davis), a young fellow that is following Lazar, always one step behind we see as at each town, wanted posters are missing for Murdock until he arrives at one ahead of the bounty killer and settles down to await his arrival. The English language version I saw gives no name, he being referred to as the Stranger a couple of times(the IMDb post of the film him as the Stranger. The Spaghetti Western Database however has him as Blonde(his hair color) When the bounty man brings in Murdock, the Stranger follows him.

The mining town of Lamazos is where they end up. A man named Barrett(Ettore Manni) owns the town and everything in it. he wears a white suit and the actor uses a small hand fan as a prop in most scenes. He has a mine forman named Medina(Benito Pacifico, billed as Dennis Colt) that wears a scarlet suit with black trim, likes using a whip, and has a thing for a beauty named Maya(Simonetta Vitelli, billed as Simone Blondell), a fortune teller who uses her wiles to get Medina to ease up on the peasants.

The relationship of all these personalities evolves over the picture at a leisurely pace, which doesn’t hurt the film at all.

All becomes clear at that isolated cemetery as Lazar and the Stranger have their final showdown.

the director was Demofilo Fidani billing himself as Miles Deems, though he use his real name as Executive Producer. A prolific director, he seems to have had a reputation as a, how shall I put it, melodramatic man.
